In Fall of 2018 as a communications coordinator intern, I was tasked with co-creating and co-leading a social media campaign about unconscious bias with my communication lead for the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. The challenge was to create an engaging effort to get the campus community to talk openly about what unconscious bias is and to reflect on themselves.
I organized and led weekly tabling in various locations across campus from the performing art center to the science and mathematics building to talk to community members about unconscious bias. Our work was recognized across campus and outside in various institutions. We were invited by Brigham Young University to speak on a panel at Case VII about how our social media campaign impacted the community and promoted self-awareness.
